BounceLens Email Check
Stops fake, mistyped and throwaway email addresses before they reach your user list or your inbox. Runs on your own server: no account, no API key, nothing is sent to BounceLens.
What it catches
- Typos:
name@gmial.comgets "Did you mean name@gmail.com?" - Dead domains: the domain does not exist, has no mail server, or accepts no email (null MX)
- Disposable addresses: Mailinator, 10minutemail and thousands more
- Optional: shared inboxes (info@, sales@), free providers (work addresses only), an allow-list
Where it checks
- User registration and profile: new users and changed email addresses (existing accounts can still be saved)
- The official Contact Form plugin: the sender address
- Control panel: off by default, so administrators can enter any address
- Your own templates:
{% set problem = craft.bouncelens.check(email) %}returns the message, ornullwhen the address is accepted - Your own models:
['email', \bouncelens\craft\validators\EmailCheckValidator::class]
How it works
The domain is looked up with your server's normal DNS (MX, then A). If DNS doesn't answer, the address is accepted, so a slow resolver never locks people out. It can't tell whether a mailbox exists; that needs a conversation with the receiving mail server, which this plugin does not do.
Requirements
Craft CMS 4 or 5. Public user registration needs Craft Pro (a Craft rule, not ours).
