Container Deposits

Container deposits, done right in Craft Commerce
If you're selling drinks in a region with a deposit return scheme, you can't just fold the deposit into the price. It has to sit on its own, clear on the cart and the receipt, kept away from VAT, and left out of your discounts. That's exactly what this plugin does.
Add a deposit to any product or variant and it shows up as its own line item in the cart, moving in step with quantity as the shopper adds and removes things. No front-end JavaScript, no fiddling with your templates to make the sums work.
What you get
- Per-product deposits. Keep a list of deposit tiers in the control panel (say 15c on a can, 25c on a bottle) and pick the right one on each product or variant from a simple field.
- Deposits as their own line item. They're added, updated, and cleared automatically on every cart change, and they always cluster with the product they belong to.
- Multipacks handled properly. Tell it how many containers are in a unit and a 6-pack collects six deposits, a tray of 24 collects 24. No manual maths.
- Outside the scope of VAT. A dedicated "Container Deposits (No VAT)" tax category is created on install, so your VAT row only ever reflects the products.
- No discount leakage. Deposits are non-promotable, so your catalog pricing rules never touch them.
- Ready for the paperwork. Twig helpers and example templates for product cards, carts, Re-turn-shaped producer invoices, and till receipts, including the mandatory consumer notice.
- Multi-site and multi-store ready. Deposit purchasables propagate to every site on their own, so carts resolve the right deposit whatever store the shopper is in.
Built around Re-turn, not locked to it
The defaults match Ireland's official Deposit Return Scheme tiers and Re-turn's invoice and receipt guidance. But there's nothing Ireland-specific baked in. Set your own tiers and amounts and it works just as well for any container deposit programme.
