Translation CSV Export

A simple translation workflow for Craft CMS

Export the translatable content of your entries to an Excel workbook, send it to your translator or edit it yourself, and safely import the completed translations back into Craft.

Translation CSV Export is built specifically for translating existing content. It only exports content that can actually be translated and leaves your site's structure, relations, assets and other non-translatable data untouched.

One workbook, one sheet per language

Choose Translations (Excel, one sheet per language) in the Export… dialog of the entries index. You get an .xlsx workbook with a READ ME sheet for the translator and one sheet per Craft site. Every sheet has the same entries and the same columns, so the translator simply fills in the sheet of their language.

The workbook opens in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or any other spreadsheet application. A single-language CSV file can be imported as well.

Nested content is flattened into clear columns, making even structured Craft content easy to work with in a spreadsheet.

Site-aware translations

Each export keeps track of the original entry and content block IDs, and translations are organized per Craft site.

When importing, translations are written only to the corresponding existing entries in the corresponding site. Your source language is never modified.

Safe by default

Imports are deliberately limited to translatable content, and you always see a preview of every change before anything is saved.

The plugin will never create or delete entries or content blocks, and fields such as assets, relations, dates, numbers and other non-translatable data are left untouched.

Additional safeguards include:

Empty cells are ignored
Existing translations are preserved by default
Overwriting existing translations can be enabled explicitly
Non-translatable and unsupported fields are skipped and reported
Every element is saved through Craft's normal validation
Failed elements remain unchanged and their validation errors are shown
Each successful save creates a Craft revision, so changes can be reverted through the entry's revision history

Made for translators, without giving them CMS access

Export the content, share the workbook with your translator, and import the completed file when it comes back.

No Craft account is required for the translator, and they don't need to understand your field setup or navigate the control panel.

Just content in, translations out.

Need your entries in Excel for other reasons, like pulling form submissions into a spreadsheet? The plugin also exports any entries as a flat CSV with one row per entry and one column per field, Matrix and Neo blocks included.

Delimiter and UTF-8 BOM are configurable so the file opens correctly in Excel in every locale.
