Craft CMS MCP connects your Craft installation to AI assistants like Claude Code, Cursor, and Claude Desktop. Your assistant discovers your content model directly instead of being told about it, and it can write content back into that model without you translating anything by hand.

It reads your install

Entries, assets, categories, users and global sets with all their custom field values. Sections, entry types, field layouts, volumes. Ask what a field accepts and it tells you the exact payload shape, with a real entry as a worked example if you want one. Filter by field value, relation, author or date, search full text, and get grouped counts without listing anything.

It writes content, carefully

Relations are addressed by what they are, not by id: {"section": "blog", "slug": "my-post"}. The shape a read returns is exactly the shape a write accepts, so an assistant can fetch an entry, change one field, and write it straight back.

Every write lands as a draft with a link to the control panel, so a person reviews it before anything goes live. There is a review queue for what is waiting, and full revision history behind every entry. Individual Matrix blocks are addressable by their own id, so changing one block does not mean resending the field and losing the ones you left out.

On a multi-site install, writes report which sites they actually reached, and content can be copied to another site as a draft for translation.

It knows what it may do

Serve it locally over stdio, or from your Craft install over HTTP with per-user bearer tokens scoped to readonly, content or full. Tokens are minted and revoked from the control panel, and each one reads and writes only what its Craft user is permitted to, checked live against Craft's own permission system rather than approximated. Sessions live in the database, so load-balanced hosting works.

And the rest of the install

Logs, the most recent error, queue jobs, deprecations, project config diffs, routes, console commands and environment, so an assistant can investigate rather than guess. Read-only SQL with schema inspection and EXPLAIN. GraphQL queries, schema exploration, and token listing. A Tinker tool that runs PHP inside the running application. Craft Commerce products, orders and statuses when Commerce is installed.

Built to be extended
