Movie Importer brings film data from TMDB into your Craft site's own entries. An editor searches TMDB in the control panel, picks a result, and a queued job creates or updates an entry. No second browser tab, no copy-pasting a synopsis, no leaving Craft.

Your fields, not ours

The plugin imports into the content model you already have. You pick the destination section and entry type, then map each TMDB value onto one of your own fields. It doesn't install a parallel movie schema you then have to live with, and a field you leave unmapped is never touched.

What imports

Text and numbers — title, original title, tagline, overview, status, release date, runtime, original language, budget, revenue, homepage, TMDB rating, vote count, IMDb ID and TMDB ID.

Poster and backdrop — downloaded into Craft Assets and related through Assets fields you nominate, at sizes you choose. Each image downloads once and re-downloads automatically if the asset is later deleted.

Genres — found or created as entries in a section you choose, related through an Entries field. Your existing genre vocabulary is reused rather than duplicated.

Built not to overwrite editorial work

  • New entries arrive disabled, so a person reviews them before anything is published.
  • Re-importing updates the existing entry in place and never creates a duplicate. Identity lives in the plugin's own table, so it survives you renaming or remapping fields.
  • Imports skip values TMDB doesn't have instead of blanking a field someone filled in by hand. Budget and revenue are a good example: TMDB reports an unknown figure as 0, which would read as "$0" rather than "unknown", so those are treated as absent.
  • Re-imports add genres rather than replacing them, so hand-added genres survive.
  • Delete an imported entry, import it again, and you get a fresh entry rather than a resurrected one.

Fits the way Craft already works

Imports run through the queue, so they never hold up a request. Editors can search from the plugin's own control-panel screen, or from a New entry from TMDB button on the entries index, which opens a panel over the index and drops the new entry into the list behind it without a page reload.

Only users with permission to save entries in the destination section can search or import. Your TMDB API key is stored as an environment variable reference, never as a literal value, and is redacted from error messages.

Keyboard-complete and WCAG 2.1 AA, which is Craft's own stated bar.
